    MOS Burger Japan

February 8, 2012 By Sara McCleary Updated November 11, 2020 - This post may contain affiliate links

MOS Burger (Mountain Ocean Sun) is a Japanese fast food franchise.  In Japan it ranks second to McDonalds.  The first store to open in Japan was back in 1972.  The company has a focus on fresh and healthy food served with a smile.

You may find it a little strange, being the foodie that I am, but on past visits to Japan I have never visited MOS Burger.  Let's face facts, I generally only have a few days and in that short space I have a hard enough time getting my fix of yakitori, soba, katsu and sashimi, just to name a few.  I have nothing against burgers, but when in Japan there is just so much more to eat.

I was determined on my last visit that I was going to partake in the MOS experience.  I am so glad that I made the time to, as they do a great burger.Approach the counter, place your order and you will be given a number.  Go find a table, sit down and your meal will be delivered to you.

The burgers are freshly made to order and taste fantastic.  The MOS cheese burger is filled with salad, lettuce, tomato, cheese and onion with a creamy mayonnaise.

The fish burger is simple but tasty, fish patty, cheese and a generous dollop of mayonnaise.

For a side I order onion rings.  Tasty, crisp and quite large.

Would I return for a burger next time I am in Japan?  Not sure, I may not need to.  MOS have now opened up three stores in Queensland and MOS for Sydney is on the cards.  I may not have to travel too far at all shortly for my MOS fix.

I do hope they open up a store in Sydney as I really was quite impressed with their burgers for a fast food chain whilst I was in Hong Kong! And gosh, look at that "dollop" - more like "scoop" - of mayo on that burger haha.

I wouldn't eat burgers in Japan either, so many other delicious things to eat there! That being said, the beef burger does look much better than your typical Maccas.

Hi Miss Piggy, Have a great time in Singapore and enjoy your MOS Burger.

Hi Lorraine, The rice burger was taken off the Japanese menu a while back, you can no longer get it. Only buns available 🙂

I had no idea that there were 3 MOS burgers in Qld already! We went there a few times and I prefer the ones with the bun than with the rice on the outside 🙂

I'm really looking forward to trying MOS burger when I'm in Singapore this weekend - it's the only place on my list so far, excluding hawker centres ofcourse!
